Product description

High-Purity Ultrafine Niobium Carbide (NbC) Powder

Niobium carbide (NbC) is a purple-grey transition-metal carbide with a NaCl-type cubic crystal structure. It combines a high melting point (approximately 3,500°C), high hardness, electrical conductivity, thermal-shock resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and strong oxidation resistance. Its balanced thermal and mechanical properties support use in cutting materials and high-temperature systems.

Key Product Advantages

  • High melting point and hardness for severe-service material systems
  • Good electrical conductivity and thermal-shock resistance
  • Strong resistance to chemical corrosion and oxidation
  • Fine, controllable particle size with a narrow distribution
  • Compatible with carbide, cermet, coating and advanced ceramic processing routes

Typical Chemical Composition

GradeC Total (wt.%)O max (wt.%)N max (wt.%)S max (wt.%)
NbC11.0–11.40.350.010.01

Typical composition is shown for reference. Customized particle-size and chemistry requirements can be reviewed for qualified projects.

Particle Size & Customization

Particle size is available on a controlled basis to match downstream dispersion, pressing, sintering or coating requirements. Share your target D50/range and process conditions so our technical team can recommend a suitable grade.

Typical Applications

  • Cutting tools, cermets and wear-resistant material systems
  • Engine and rocket-nozzle liners
  • Turbine-rotor and elevated-temperature components
  • Protective coatings and carbide-reinforced composites
  • Advanced ceramic research and specialty powder metallurgy

Manufacturing & Quality Capability

Jilin Changyu Special Ceramics New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. has specialized in advanced ceramic materials since 2017. The company operates on a 50,000 m² site with 38,700 m² of buildings, more than 300 sets of production equipment and over 40 sets of analytical and testing instruments.

Our non-oxide ceramic powder portfolio is engineered for high purity, fine and controllable particle size, narrow particle-size distribution, low oxygen and low free-carbon content. The company holds 20 national invention patents, has participated in the development of five national standards, and has implemented ISO 9001 and GB/T 28001-2011 management systems.
