Product description

High-Purity Ultrafine Titanium Carbonitride (TiCN) Powder

Titanium carbonitride (TiCN) is a black transition-metal carbonitride with a face-centered-cubic, NaCl-type structure. It combines key advantages of TiC and TiN, including high hardness, wear resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal and electrical conductivity, and chemical stability. TiCN is an important raw material for high-performance Ti(C,N)-based cermet cutting tools.

Key Product Advantages

  • High hardness and excellent wear resistance
  • Balanced oxidation and corrosion resistance
  • Good thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and chemical stability
  • Optimized raw material for Ti(C,N)-based cermets
  • Fine, controlled particle size for uniform microstructure and sintering behavior

Typical Chemical Composition

GradeC Total (wt.%)Free C max (wt.%)O (wt.%)N (wt.%)S max (wt.%)
TiCN9.2–9.80.200.4–1.011.2–11.80.02

Regularly available particle-size ranges are 200–400 nm and 400–600 nm. Other particle sizes can be evaluated according to customer requirements.

Particle Size & Customization

Stock particle-size ranges include 200–400 nm and 400–600 nm. Customized particle size can be discussed to match dispersion, mixing, granulation, pressing and sintering requirements.

Typical Applications

  • Ti(C,N)-based cermet turning and milling tools
  • High-speed and precision cutting-tool materials
  • Wear-resistant gauges and precision wear components
  • Coatings and hard-phase additions for engineered composites
  • Advanced powder-metallurgy and ceramic research
